Introducing our New GiveGetGo Manager Sharon Lane
We’re thrilled to have Sharon Lane join the TLC team as our newest GiveGetGo programme manager.
Sharon volunteered for TLC for several months before her appointment and is a perfect example of the power of volunteering. Here’s a bit of info from Sharon herself.
“I’m passionate about helping people to feel empowered in the decisions and choices they have. It’s important to me that I support the people I work with in understanding that they have worth and every step they take towards their goal is valuable.
I have over 20 years’ experience in providing information, advice and guidance in a variety of settings. From supporting taxpayers with navigating the complex terrain of revenue, helping residents in women’s refuge shelters with rent and property management, to helping teenagers with translating GCSE and A ‘level options into degree and employment choices.
As a mature student, both undergraduate and postgraduate, with 2 young children I was able to utilise my life experience to enhance my academic experience and demonstrate to my family and friends that you’re never too old to learn and that there is always the option to change your situation.
After 10 years as a Job Coach for National Careers Service providing support for everyone over 18 years old and later in a more specialised role with the prison service, I made a conscious career move to work with Transform Lives Company because of its person-centred approach. I believe my role here as a GiveGetGo manager will enable me to fulfil my passion of empowering people and assist in my professional and personal growth.”
