How I try to keep my head above the water

How I try to keep my head above the water

Feeling anxious and down seems like all I’ve ever known. There hasn’t been one morning of the past 15 years that I haven’t awoken with the feeling of dread about my days challenges, it’s my default state.

It’s all about coping and taking on those challenges, even if ‘taking on’ the challenges means keeping your head above the water. Opening up that same book to read for the umpteenth time, as I know it’s got me through before, my paper comfort blanket. I have days when I do need a bit of solitude, my head feels like it weighs a ton, like I could at literally anything. These days are very rare and only appear when I don’t keep busy, the best way I’ve discovered to keep busy is… LIFE.

If somebody would have said ‘Global Pandemic’ to me a year ago, I would have folded in half, on top of having a part time job! I’ve surrounded myself with the most caring people I’ve ever met and they’ve given me the chance to have a life, a future, something I never thought I’d get the chance at. Learning more and more to not take the weight of the world on my shoulders and to talk to the people in my circle. I’m so grateful for all of you.
