Things I wouldn’t have thought I could do 12 months ago:
- Teach live streamed yoga classes over the internet
- Sit in front of a class of 30 students
- Pull a Lions Breath face in front of anyone!
Has that really been a year? It only seems like yesterday that I was cramming for my anatomy exam and practical yoga assessment. The knee bone connects to the thigh bone (you’re singing it aren’t you?). We all fledged the nest clutching our certificates excited to see the next part of our yoga journeys.
What a 12 months it’s been. I’ve LOVED every single class I’ve taken from those in the office with the TLC team, the fire service, teachers, housing tenants, GGGers, GPs and watching the classes grow at my local gym. Each class creates its own community, people silently connecting as they enjoy the experience.
And then this whole heap of crazy hit. I am a VERY video camera shy person. Well you can scrap that now, given the option of teaching online or not teaching at all I’ve simply had to pull my big girls pants on and get on with it!
I needed to keep teaching to keep my routine, to feel like I was doing something to help others and to feel connected to other people. Who knew that would be possible online. It’s been a huge learning curve, the tech, adapting how I teach and what I can teach and of course patience from all my students when things don’t always go to plan. Like Mum calling up because she can’t log in, message pinging through Facebook or Holly the dog making a cameo appearance!
I’m grateful every day that I have the gift of yoga for myself and to share with others and I'm excited to see what the next 12 months bring in my teaching journey.
